The Coker University Physical Education and Sport Studies Program is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Physical Education beginning August 2025. This position is a 9-month position with competitive salary and benefits that reports to the Dean of the College of Health Professions.
Preferred qualifications include an earned Doctorate in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field with a preferred specialization in Exercise Science. ABD will be considered. Previous successful teaching and experience at the university level is preferred. The Primary responsibilities for the position include inclusive face-to-face teaching at the undergraduate level. There may be opportunities for online (credentialing preferred) teaching.

Responsibilities Include:
- Participate in the ongoing development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of the Physical Education and Sport Studies academic program:
- Teach 12 credits per semester of Physical Education courses such as Exercise Science (Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Measurement and Evaluation), Foundational program courses (the Introduction to Physical Education) and Health/Fitness (Personal and Community Health, Lifetime Fitness, Fitness Appraisal) courses as needed.
- Advise and mentor students.
- Use and assist students with the use of our current Learning Management System (Brightspace).
- Participate in the evaluation and ongoing enhancement of the Physical Education curricula.
- Apply best practices to student success initiatives.
- Engage in the recruitment of Physical Education majors through individual and group meetings with potential students and parents.
- Service to discipline, institution, and community:
- Participate in program-area and institutional standing and task force committees.
- Participate in Faculty Senate and ad hoc committees.
- Participate in community and professional activities as appropriate.
- Participate in scholarly projects as appropriate.
- Collaborate effectively with other faculty and staff members within Physical Education and throughout the University and community to develop inter-professional academic and research opportunities.
