Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Position Summary:

Coker University is seeking an enthusiastic, driven, and team-oriented individual to serve as the Assistant Coach Men's Basketball. This position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the basketball program, including recruitment, player development, game planning, academic support, and administrative duties in alignment with NCAA Division II, South Atlantic Conference, and university standards.

Principal Duties:

• Assist the Head Coach in developing and implementing a successful basketball program focused on academic achievement, athletic excellence, and character development.
• Coordinate practice sessions and contribute to game strategy and opponent scouting.
• Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who align with Coker's mission and values.
• Support student-athletes' academic progress and collaborate with campus resources to ensure academic eligibility and success.
• Travel with the team for away contests, coordinating logistics such as meals, lodging, and transportation.
• Monitor compliance with NCAA, SAC, and university policies and procedures.
• Assist with fundraising initiatives, alumni engagement, and community outreach.
• Maintain positive relationships with players, parents, alumni, and campus/community partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.

Experience:

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Collegiate playing or coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA Division II level or higher.
• Strong understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain prior to hire.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
