The Director of Alumni Engagement's top priority is to maximize the interaction value
each alumni has with Coker. The position is responsible for increasing and managing
meaningful contact with all alumni. The Director should be building direct contacts with
alumni that will result in enhancing alumni engagement and alumni donor participation.
The Director should have demonstrated expertise in strategic event management and
marketing skills with success in cultivating relationships. The Director for Alumni
Engagement serves as an integral part of the College's overall fundraising team helping
to cultivate meaningful relationships with Coker alumni.
Key Responsibilities:
● Develops, coordinates and evaluates programs and projects to promote alumni
relations and educational programs designed to connect alumni through
academic channels such as programs/departments/schools/colleges.
● Build and facilitate a yearly calendar of activities

▪ Alumni Day
▪ Homecoming
▪ Regional alumni gatherings
▪ Alumni recognition events

● Identifies, cultivates, and stewards alumni to support the Alumni office but also
University events:
o Hall of Fame Banquet
o Student internship experiences
● Helps University leadership identify alumni for engagement related to the Board
of Trustees, advisory councils, and donations.
● Supports the Alumni Association Board in goal setting, program development,
leadership development, and volunteer recruitment.
● Coordinates and produces reports, proposals, and analyses for management to
demonstrate increased evidence of alumni involvement:
● Supports goals of the Institutional Scorecard through the office of Institutional
Advancement

▪ Post event ROI analysis
▪ Engagement levels (e.g. graduation year, sports program,
academic degree, etc.)

● Develops, sustains, and strengthens alumni groups which focus on establishing
and maintaining connections through academic/degree programs, year of
graduation, geographic location, sports team, etc. and collaborates with other
offices on campus in this work.
● Develops and publishes content for publications and posts
o monthly alumni newsletter
o proactively generates alumni social media presence.
● Develops and presents educational programs for alumni, including lectures,
seminars, and workshops.
● Identifies and executes on adding value to alumni engagement
o professional lists

o alumni as speakers or experts
o alumni affinity groups
● Coordinates and trains volunteers who work on events, projects, and programs.
● Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings,
committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or
policies.
● Actively engages with the greater community to professionally represent Coker
University.
o Local club(s) membership
o Local board or volunteer opportunities
● May supervise and train staff, student employees, volunteers, and/or interns, as
appropriate.
● All other appropriate duties and responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
